Angry 383 No start

Well I finally got my 383 in for the second time. The first time I installed it I had no problems it fired right up. I had to pull it out becasue they didnt clearance the windage tray.

Well I got it all together today and went to start it. The motor turns over but no fire. I am getting code 41. I tested to coil and got the crap shoecked out of me. The I pulled a plug out and left the wire attached to it and had my dad try to start the car. Once again I got the crap shocked out of me so I set the plug/wire so it would hang there and it is throwing very small sparks off of the plug? I pulled the opti off and it looked ok. I also installed a solid roller cam and the pushrods are to short so the valves arent opening, Would this cause the problem? It is a 383 forged bottom end with Lloyd elliot heads soild roller cam and everything that goes with it. Liek I said when I had the CC306 in it before it fires right up. I am totaly stummped someone please help me or atleast point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Matt

Sounds like you checked everything on the spark side. Now, id check the fuel side. Make sure your fuel pump is priming. Even if the valves are not opening all the way, the car would still run. If the valves arent opening at all, you shouldnt even be trying to start the car. Get the pushrod situation taken care of first then try to fire it up.

Gee, if the valves dont open, how is the motor getting air in and exhaust out? Oh wait, it's not. Amazing. Why are you even turning it over, if you KNOW the setup isnt right. Simply amazing.

Re: 383 No start

well now it runs But it revs then tries to die. I am getting code 33. MAP sensor. Replaced the sensor about 6 months ago and installed a new connector. When the light is off it idles perfect (sounds funny though) But as soon as that light comes on it goes to S_*T Up and down the revs go from 2k to 200?? What should I do?

Thanks

Re: 383 No start

Check your voltage going into and out of the map sensor, it is linear just like the TPS, but vacuume dependant. A scanner does wonders in these situations, it would show you all your sensors inputs up front.

Re: 383 No start

Did you tune the PCM for the cam? What are the specs on it?

Re: 383 No start

PCM hasnt been tuned yet. My buddy is making me a program. It is programed for a cc306 with stock bottom end and such. I have a scanmaster, will that work as far as scanning it?

Re: 383 No start

Yeah a scanmaster can see the map voltage and such, it can confirm that it's working. But if it's not tuned for your new stuff it will run like craaaaaap

When I first put my 383 together I had the tune in it for a stock motor plus a small cam. It ran like pure crap, it hardly would idle and forget about part throttle.

Yeah I'll bet when you get everything ironed out and get it tuned it will put a big grin on.
