Anyhow
I remember getting some smoke too when we first ran my motor. I would imagine its just some blowby. How much is to be expected on a fresh motor? im not sure. I would imagine that as the rings seat the blowby would probably reduce. Maybe one of the more experienced guys can help me out on that one.

i guess its a normal thing i got freaked out thinking i fried a piston ring or something because i did floor it about 7 times within its first 500 miles but i cant help it! everyone keeps trying me out there but i called golen and told him i see white faint smoke out of the cap and dip stick tube and he said he its normal dont worry about it
Re: 383 Le2 Seems Down On Power
If you floored it during break in and fried a piston then the motor was built wrong. I didnt get any white smoke with mine but mabey our rings were gapped at different specs.

No sir. But we have two completely different setups built with different parts, specs and by different people. I would just keep close communication with Golen and let them know how it's looking. If youre really scared do a leakdown and compression test. That's what I would do.

Keep a close eye on the white smoke in the crankcase. Golen will treat you right. Keep in mind that you can have the very best quality and well built motor but the one second that the tuneup is wrong, (too much timing during lug or not enough fuel and resultant pinging-detonation), then even a forged piston will bust a ring land.
If the smoke gets even slightly worse, stop. Park it. Call Golen.
That intake backfire could be a number of things too. Let's see, how many things have I messed up to cause that. 1. too lean at throttle tip in = intake backfire. 2. crossed the fuel injector electrical connectors, (#2 and #4). 3. Crossed spark plug wires. 4. burned plug wire on header. 5. etc. 6. etc.

Re: 383 Le2 Seems Down On Power
ok well the smoke i found out when i recently changed the oil was that there was some that was left on the actual filler tube and when hot was creating the smoke. so now when i open the cap there is no more white smoke, and for the dip stick tube smoke only comes out when i pull it out "i think" because my dip stick tube is metal and when hot enough as i pull it out it burns within the tube as if i were to spill some on the header so theres some relief there
