383 le2 h/c/i numbers

I also have a electric water pump, stepped kooks, 58mm tb, 30 svo's, tsp rumbler exhuast, 6 speed and 3.42 10 bolt. Ed Wright tuned. Car made 436.9 rwhp and 407.2 rwtq. I had bad gas, a new alt. died, and the car had a slight miss towards the end. My car let us know that it needs alittle more octane than the pump can provide and suggestions? ie aviation fuel? I'm very pleased

you sure it's the octane? whats your compression ratio? i would think you would need more than 30#'s

Why do you think it needs more octane, rather than less timing?

Ed Wright said it needed alittle more. I've got some bad gas in it still so once I empty it completely and put some good gas in it it might fix it.

Get the gas out first and then check that out.... some brands of gas and stations are better than others. 437 ?& 407 is some nice numbers for a bolt together setup!

Nice numbers : )

What are the rough specs on that LE2 cam? Any idea what the heads flow? Final compression ratio?

It's different for a 383 or a 350.... it's not very big even at the 383 somewhere around the size of a GM847.

The car should run really well.

Presumably these are dynojet numbers?

What octane gas was in the tank? If you're going to drive the car on the street I would have it tuned for 91 octane. Not higher than that. You need to find out what the compression ratio is. A bad tank of gas + high rpm could do some serious damage to your motor.

I talked to Ed he said on the last run everything was fine. Gas here is crappy so I figure a gallon or two of some higher octane would be the smart thing to do. Whatever Ed Wright use is what the car was dynoed on. I wasn't there for the dyno, I was working in Kansas. I had my dad trailer it up there. As for the compression I have le2's and I used impala gaskets. I have no idea how far in the hole the pistons were due to never getting a spec sheet.

This was all on Ed's dynojet? What did he think of the numbers?

I don't know what was said between him and my dad other than Ed said we did a really good job with the assembly and doing everything the way it should be done. I'll know more here soon when I get some time off. I'm going to visit my dad and get alittle more info on what Ed said and look at the graph.

Update Larry got in touch with me and let me know my compression right now is 13 to 1. He is sending the right head gasket which will put me around 12.3 to 1. He is also sending me the intake and header gaskets. Larry is fixing the problem and I apperciate it.
