383 LE2 dyno #'s

I finally got the car tuned by Bryan Herter today.

He found some power over the mail order tune by leaning it out and playing with the timing.

424 max RWHP SAE and 472 RWTQ (converter flash).

It made 434 RWHP std.

Base run with un touched mail order tune was 413 RWHP.

383, LE2 heads, LE2 cam, ported intake 58 MM TB, Delphi 37 lb inj, KOOKS headers, 3" true duals, A4, Yank 3200 stall, 3.42 gears, 17" WS6 wheels.

Bryan mentioned the plugs need to be changed and it had a "bang" at high RPM after being ran on the mail order tune with low timing for a while. The abuse the plugs are being put through is showing how bad they are. He feels that new plugs will fix it so a new set goes in next week.

He "estimated" the #'s would have been about 20 RWHP better for a 6 speed car and a new set of plugs might gain a couple of HP also.

As "ALWAYS" there is more in it but the only thing that matters is what the dyno and track times are. we all have the "woulda, coulda, shoulda" about their track times and dyno #'s, lol so i'll just have to live with these #'s.

Man I would have ever though an LE2'd car would have put out over 400rwhp unlocked, much less 424RWHP. It just goes to show how important the whole combination is.

Is that locked or unlocked? Good numbers none the less.

What did it run with the old setup? What are you thinking it will run now?

Awesome numbers Lloyd. That is the combo that I have been hoping to do when the funds all come available.

Nice #'s for the LE2 cam Lloyd. That looks like a nice combination you have. Gears and converter tame enough for the street and still set-up with enough to kick some LSx butt at the track. My kind of car. Good job.

Nice Job Lloyd! I could have told you the LE2 set up would put down over 400/400 What plugs are you running? 104's indexed work excellent for mine.

that was locked but the converter would not lock until a higher RPM and the converter flash was always there. Unlocked was 407 i believe.

I have Autolite 104 plugs in there and will be going back with a new set of them.

It went 11.55-11.53 in the 1/4 at 117 MPH and 7.30-7.35 at 93 MPH in the 1/8 last year. That was using . . . . .

base mail order tune
stock 82K trans (sluggish shifts and very mush lock up at track)
17" front and rea wheels wit 17" DR's (1.59-1.63 60 fts with a lil spin)
3.42 gears in stock 7.5 rear end.

Improvements this year are . . . . .

Bryans dyno tune
CPT trans (MUCH firmer shifts and quicker lock up)
15" WELD 15x3.5 and 15x10 with 27x11.5x15 Hoosier QTPs (should not spin)
3.55 gears in 8.8 ford rear end

I am hoping to see 1.5-2.0 tenths from all of this with the light wheels and 8.8 rear end will off set each other and the improvemets will be from tuning and new trans.

Maybe some 11.30's at 119 MPH and 7.10's at 95 MPH in good weather. We'll see.

Getting the car set up for nitrous later in the year otherwise I would have never swapped rears.

I have the graphs in my email if someone can post em for me.
