Strokerace is right. Getting the valve train setup is work. I am a prime example of that. I am in the process of redoing my valve train due to a colapsed lifter and eating guide plates. I went with the Isky adj. guide plates. You can set them where you want them and once they are set tack them with a weldwer and you are set. Good luck.

What makes it "take a little work"? Can you just throw it together and measure, or do you actually need one solid lifter to mock it up and measure? Im going to be doing this as soon as I get my LE3 setup (still a few weeks out on them from Lloyd).

Take the guts out of one lifter. Cut a 3/8 bolt and grind the length until the cap will just go on and the lock fits. Waaaallllaa ya got a solid checking lifter. Make sure everything is CLEAN when ya get through and put it back together.
It takes some work to get the pattern as narrow as possible and the sweep as close to center as possible. Ya will need an adjustable PR also.

3/8 bolt?

Nah you gotta turn down a piece of 5/8 ground rod and make it right within a .005" for a checking lifter!!!! ;-)

It's nice to have a machine shop!

Oh yeah, any ideas on HP/TQ?

Thanks

It's hard to guess power numbers without cam specs.

Well, now I don't wanna go giving out Bret's cam specs. But it is healthy. Glad you mentioned the valvetrain setup. I don't have access to a machine shop so....any alternative ideas would be appreciated

Bigger than LE3 is kind a big cam. What is your heads flow numbers? (cfm @600? or 650?) I guess 295 something.
You should see 445rwhp

Well 270/276@50 on a 108+4 .806 net lift is healthy.(street grind?????)
Don't know what ya are calling healthy though.
That one is probably in the 250 range.

Re: 383/LE TFS combo

The TFS guide plates align everything like they should be. The Comps are just a lil different.

I would stick with a 5/16 PR, just get a Comp Hi tech series the right length.

The TFS heads have a small hole for the PR to travel through and a 3/8 would probably contact the head from just eye balling it.

When I gotta make more than 2 I just let the shop make a bunch... it's a hella lot easier to do that.
