Is this 383 kit any good?

I need to rebuild my bottom end in my 95 z28, and I was looking at this kit on ebay. I am also going to get the lt4 hotcam kit since it comes with roller rockers, valve springs, ect. I work at a local chevy dealer so I'll get a discount on the hotcam kit . They say that the rods have already been CNC clearanced for a standard base circle cam, so that means I would only have to clearance the bottom of the block where the oil pan goes right?

What do you guys think of this stroker kit. CLICK

that is a cheap kit. your stock bottomend is just as strong.it should be ok as long as you dont want to put down a lot of power in the future.i would just spend the money on the steel crank and h beam rods and some good pistons like je.

my stock bottom end went bye bye about two weeks ago at the track.spun main and rod bearings, the crank is shot, two piston rings were broken in halve. so yeah. I NEED a rebuild kit to get this car back on the road again.

will the 383 even run with the hotcam and stock heads?

I bought the same kit from the same seller. I haven't got any real mileage on it yet but the parts fit together perfectly and it shipped fast and came in with great quality. Like mentioned I wouldn't plan on looking at over 500rwhp with this setup but it will work great naturally aspirated and the bearings are much better than stock. I got upgraded to keith black hyper pistons for free with my order as well so I would mention that to him. Call them up also they will talk everything over with you. They know their motors...

Fyi I only have about 20 miles on the setup since my injectors were leaking and I didn't want to drive it to much but everything fired right up and all clearances were perfect during the rebuild with these parts.

If you are on a tight budget, this kit will be fine.
It is basically a stock rebuild + 33 bonus cubes.

As long as you understand the limitations and are fine with it,
I say go for it.

The block will need to be clearanced at the bottom as you said.

With stock heads and a HOT cam, you aren't going to be able to abuse it very badly.

Adding 33ci, without improving the heads means its not going to flow any more air than it did when it was a 350. Adding cubic inches, without providing more air flow via the heads and intake manifold will not accomplish much. You'lll just see more pressure loss in the intake runners, and end up with a less dense charge in the cylinders.

Not the best cam for it and I know this but I went with the cc306 cam. I will be going with an le2 setup in the future. Like Injuneer stated if you plan on running this motor with stock heads and a hotcam just build another 350. I only went stock headed 383 because I knew I would shortly add heads to it.

I also plan on having the LE2 or LE3 pakage or some AFRs later on but I can't aford it right now, with stock heads and the LT4 hotcam, will it just fall on its face at high RPM (6500rpm max)?

It won't spin as high as you may want it. It won't hurt anything but don't expect to make more power than you could with say a 355ci until you have the heads to make use of the extra 30 or so cubes from a 383.

OK, one last question, I promise.
other than bore, hone, and clearance, what else do I HAVE to have done to the block. I've heard of line honing or something like that, does that NEED to be done?

Thanks for all the help guys!!!
