383 and HOTCAM VS 383 and HT383 crate cam
383 and HOTCAM VS 383 and HT383 crate cam
I currently have a 383 with Hotcam and was wondering if the HT383 crate motor cam would be better
The crate cam has Dur @ .050 196 int .206 exhaust
Lift int .431 and .451 exh
But has a 109 lobe centerline VS the Hotcam only has 112.

Man, that crate cam suxs. The LSA is tight because their is little over lap with that small of a duration. I would upgrade to a XE 230/236 LSA 112 or maybe slightly larger. It would wake that **** up with some headers. Not a big fan of the cc306 in a 350 but in a 383 I bet it would be a great cam too. Need more duration for the added stroke. The hotcam would be very, very drivable though. I doubt if it has any lope to it at all though.

Depends on what you are doing with the car. If you are daily driving the car I would go with a hot cam. If you are going to be street/stripping the car i would go with a even bigger one, like the guy above talked about. But the crate cam would DEFINATELY make your 383 project a waste of time. I would be considering it if I were pulling trailers but in a car like yours the HOT cam is a VERY daily drivable cam
Between those two cams I'd go with the hotcam. That crate cam sounds even smaller than a stock LT-1 cam in some aspects. 383's need a little bit more to breathe there. I'm not a fan of putting small cams in big motors but at least drop in the hotcam. It's a little different sounding than stock but it's a good cam for idle up until about 6200-6300 rpms.
