383 help

I put in 4 bolt splayed caps and now the oil dipstick doesn't fit, I tried bending it to make it fit and now its ****ed, is there another option? And also its a 94 obd1 but I had to use the obd2 timingcover and opti do to the timing set I used, do I have to tune the computer for that or will it work without the tune. I forgot to let pcm for less know

Re: 383 help

Trim the dipstick tube and/or indicator as necessary. Mine only protrudes into the block far enough to see the full mark and change - that's it.

The PCM doesn't care which cover you use. Just make sure the CPS sensor hole is blocked off.

Re: 383 help

So cut the tube instead of bending it, now the dipstick is still going to hit the cap and flex straight down instead of at an angle where it is supposed to be, will this change where the actual full mark will be? Someone told me I should fill the pan with the exact amount of oil it should take when empty and then etched a new mark on the dipstick. Does anyone know how many quarts exactly I should use to fill it when empty

Re: 383 help

Cut the indicator just short of where it hits the cap.
