Crank is different but could be made to work.It will be pricey and you will have to get another flywheel and balancer, seal adaptor, ect. If ya can't get it for really cheap, and it's in A1 condition don't fool with it.

Re: 383 help

see the thing is my uncle is a car buff but only on older carbed cars he has a 69 camaro and a 71 nova. he has parts just lying around that are in good condition for a 383 setup but we dont know if i can just use those to make it all come together on the newer style block.

like i said before, i am clueless when it comes to this switch so if it can work and i have all the parts that are needed what would it roughly cost and entail

Just guessing about $2000.00 maybe a little less. NOW THATS FOR NEW PARTS. If ya got the balance and flywheel that fits the older assy ya would just need the rear seal adapter and the right seals for front and rear and a starter. Ya will have to check around to see what crank Co's have the adapter(Scat,Lunati,Eagle, etc.) I did one several years back but don't remember all the details. Old fart's mind ain't what it used to be.
I do remember that it isn't a drop in,ya have to fit and check everything timing chain alignment balancer alignment and flywheel alignment, rear seal placement, just to see if ya got the right pieces on it.They make all the pieces it's up to you to see that they are right.
Your cam will have to be one for the LT-1 and ya can run the double roller timing chain with an electric water pump for the LT-1.
Intake can be either or and with or without a distributor ya don't have to run the opti except for the EFI.Ya could run a FAST system also and retain the factory computer for guage s and tranny.
There are a bunch of different ways to go.

It's very doable and it sounds like ya can do it for a GOOD price.Just take your time and do it right.

For what you're going to spend on rebalancing the crank, new flywheel, adaptor and whatever else it takes, you can get an inexpensive Scat crank. A 1 piece RMS, 3.75" stroke Scat 9000 is right around $200 bucks.

Re: 383 help

You need a rear main seal adaptor, this allows you to use the older style crank which is 2 piece seal in the newer blocks that are one piece. GM performance parts caries this adaptor.
