383 finally running!!!!

I just started up the 383 for the first time and I LOVE IT. The specifics are:
scat 9000 crank, scat forged "pro" 6" I beams, Wiseco forged flat tops, Home ported heads, xe236/242, electric water pump, shorty headers, flowmaster exhaust. Roughly 12:1 compression ratio.

In about 10 miles of driving it I cannot stop grinning. It sounds like a freakin race car, yet is driveable enough for everyday. I should have some video in the next few days. I cannot tell you how fast it is quite yet because I am going to baby it for break in. I'll keep you posted as I get dyno/track results.

The best part is that I did it by myself for the most part. Thankyou kent (383 LT4) for the help and the tools. What a sense of satisfaction.

{congrats man, i know exactly how you feel}

Ditto!! Congrats!!
I felt the same way after my friend and I finished my 383 swap. I had the motor sitting in his garage for 4 months (waiting till I could save up to buy all the other stuff I needed).
Its a freaking awesome feeling. You can check out my pics of the 383 in the sig if you like.

Thanks,
Claude

Congrats man. It is a great feeling when you do the work yourself. If you anything like me the feeling will never fade. If the weather is good the Z is the only car I drive.

Nice Work! I now how you feel. I had a 383 built and installed this past winter and car was ready in Febuary and road was ready April. I found myself going for a drive every chance I got. I just used the excuse that I needed to put some miles on the new engine.

I sure wish that I could do it all myself like you did though.

Man I can't wait to finish mine. I just dropped my new 383 Stroker into my 96 TA last week. I have to finish bolting and connecting everything back up. You really get me pumped up now. I can't wait to finish mine. Soon.

Congratulations and enjoy.

Congrats on the 383. I didn't see any mention of an editor or mail order tune, was the stock computer up to the job??

Just curious, I'm going the same route soon and have an editor, so I can increase the size of the engine for the computer, but I was thinking a cam of around the 224/236 to your cam 230/236 would be okay with the stock fuel map.

I do have pcmforless tuning, but I forgot to mention them. Startup was done on the old 350 230/236 tune, but I now have my new tune. I plan on logging some files and sending them in to brian for some fine tuning. I can't wait to get on a dyno and go to the track, but I am going to put it off till I get a few more miles on my motor. BTW, last night I couldn't resist and hung with a caged Nova, and raped a heads/cam 5.0. I only pulled it to 5k with the Nova and 6k with the 5.0 though. I will keep you guys posted on dyno/track numbers as soon as I get them.
