Tranny temp guage. is it working?

I finished installing it today and I don't know whether or not the thing is working. The light works but the needle does not move. I got everything connected and I grounded it not to the engine but spliced in my light wire and the light works. Does it get over 100 degrees? The needle hasnt moved yet for me. I havent driven it long either though. Just curious.

You should definitely get over 100 degrees. Where did you put the temperature sender, in the test port on the tranny?

I would double check that your temp sender is grounded correctly, because it sounds to me like it isn't.

Even with a 24,000lb tranny cooler, my tranny temp will stay between 125 and 180. Your gauge should definitely start to rise above 100 after you drive a few blocks, especially if you don't have your electric fans turned on or an extra tranny cooler.

Make sure you ground the sensor, even if you use the test port on the tranny. Due to the tranny itself is not really a good ground.

Get a high stall converter and watch your tranny temps climb.

Well I have a 24,000 cooler too. I drove it only for a brief period but mashed on it. The sensor is in the test port and I did ground the other wire. I grounded it just to the frame right by the gas pedal. I have another wire grounded there and it works. Maybe tomorrow I will try grounding it somewhere else. Any suggestions w/o having to really put huge effort into making it somewhere?

Beside the cooler, everything else is stock and I have just what is in the sig.

Thanks for the replies.

I have mine grounded in the same place. Just drive it a little more. I don't see why it wouldn't be working. Like I said mine hardly ever goes past 150.
