well I finaly got back from the Dyno at Carolina Auto Masters and the results where about where I thought they would be. 414 RWHP and 412 TQ. I went with a little older and milder cam then most (CC 306) but the motor did just about what I thought it would do. I loose some because of the IRS of the corvette but the TQ curve was great 350 @ 2000 and straght across the board peaking at 4500 with max HP at 6K. I suspect there is more in there because I had a wierd problem where the car would just miss between 3900-4000. Damn thing new plugs and wires and replaced ECM and Delteq Box with no effect. I think it either has to be the Opti or the Delteq.

What did you think of CAM. Was Jeff the one who tuned your car while on the dyno over there? I am thinking of going there for a full dyno tune and i just want to know what you thought of them.

Jeff did a great job and he knows what he's doing. Its a 4 hr trip for me from Charleston but it was worth the trip. If I had to do it all over again I would do the exact same thing and he would bet he tuner.

 

so how many runs did you do and how much did you gain from your first run to your last run after tuning from jeff?

Jeff is a class act, and went out of his way to help me when I had troubles, let me use his shop, and didnt charge me a dime. You just can't find that kind of service anywhere these days. I'm heading back when I get the cash to get it dyno tuned.

 

A lot spent over 4 hrs on the dyno. went from 383.5 to 414.4 RWHP and from 380.1 to 412.3 TQ. Jeff is definatly a class act and provided all the help he could working with me and that damm miss.

 

Adding 35 rwhp from a tune while battling a miss is impressive. Jeff's service and communication is excellent. It's great to have him in your corner because he'll not only take time to review datamaster logs to "tweak" your tune, but he also gives great advice to diagnose and fix mechanical issues. I haven't been fortunate enough to get a dynotune from him, however, I think my mail order tune is better than many dynotunes I could get locally. Good luck with that miss, I'm sure Jeff will get you another 10 to 15 when you get it sorted out....

 

Let me add one more thing as long as we are talking about tuners. Ion (Aka madz28) did the baseline for this car and it was awsome. The car started and idled perfect with Ion's bin and ran great. Ion has done several mail order tunes for me and they have all been great. I wen't to CAM because he has a great reputation and is with in driving distance (About 16 hrs to madz from charleston). I would have Ion tune my car again in a heart beat and for mail order tunes he is one of the best and about as reasonable as you will find.

The heads are AFR 195's that where CNC ported by More performance and Ferrea valves titanium retainers, and duel valve springs. THe flow #s where about 4-6 cfi better across the board then the numbers posted on the AFR web site for comp ported AFR 195's

 

When tuning with CAM, can jeff burn you a couple different programs like the mail order guys do. In other words, i am looking to get a street and a track program that i can load when applicable through my lap top. Also, after getting him to dyno tune for you, in the future if you change your mods, can you send him datamaster scans to sort through burn another program like you can through mad Z or bryan at pcmforless?
