383 Crank shaft compatabilties(newb)
383 Crank shaft compatabilties(newb)
Hi,
I just made my first 4th gen perchase.
Heres some questions..
First I have a pre-86 Intteraly balnced 383 crank. That is the old 2 piece design.
Will it fit? Or can I have it machined to fit?
Also will vortex heads fit? I have a race ported set here?
Also which will be faster? A 383 with ported lt1 heads or a 355 with ported heads.
I heard that the 383 makes too much toque and is hard too hook up?
Thanks,

Will it fit? Or can I have it machined to fit? No, no

Also which will be faster? A 383 with ported lt1 heads or a 355 with ported heads. Depends on the setup. But generally, the 383 will be faster
I heard that the 383 makes too much toque and is hard too hook up? Dumb argument. Traction is cheap.
