383 Clearance Questions

My 383 short block just arrived I was just wondering other than notches in the pan rail is there anything else that has to be done or changed from my old lt1 to the 383...ieil pan, pushrod length, timing chain and gears...or can I still use the ones from my block..timing chain and gears are new(1000 miles) as well as the hardened push rods..
Thanks Just let me know any conflicts you guys came across when swapping stuff out of the old and into the new...

Re: 383 Clearance Questions

The oil pan can be made to work, but an aftermarket is preferred. Pushrod lenght is dependent on a lot of things. Just put it together and check if the geometry is right. Timing chain should be fine, but check for excessive slack. Same with the gears, but look for excessive gear wear.

Re: 383 Clearance Questions

pushrod length is dependent on cam lift, rockers, gasket thickness, milling of the heads, etc.
