383 chuging
383 chuging
Just fired it up Monday and had it running good but now its starting to load up and chug until about 3xxx rpm's. It doesn't do it all the time and is not consistent at all. I havnt driven the car to much either but it seems to be happening more often than before. Do u think I might have blown out an o2 or maybe I just need a tune to work the bugs out?
Re: 383 chuging
Do you have a way to check the tuning?
Back when I used pcmforless I had a couple times when I reprogrammed the car backed it out of the driveway and had to go back to the old tune just to get back in the driveway.
Point being, ok it was reprogrammed so maybe that is not the problem but don't dismiss it as possible.
Do you have any way to monitor the ALDL?

Re: 383 chuging
That's a big negative on the tuning devices, sorry I'm a newb on the motor and the whole tuning deal, but apparently its hard to find an early 94 obd1 lt1 tunner in St. Louis but my machinist found one local for me. I just got his number today but since you guys have helped me out ALOT I thought I would ask the board first
Re: 383 chuging
IMO you should not try to own a car that heavily modified without having the ability to log ALDL info.
TTS Datamaster is only like $90 if you buy it from someone like akmcables, cables start at about $50 from numberous sources. I think Tunercat is even offering it in packages which would allow you to load new tunes from your chosen tuner after you send him datalogs. As you learn you could make small drivability tweaks.

Re: 383 chuging
Without that info, asking the question makes little sense at all.
Re: 383 chuging
Yes it could help if we knew more about the engine but still without datalogging we are shooting in the dark.
Far as level of modification I guess I did make some assumptions. If the only thing done is more displacement added and nothing else changed then the whole topic and car are a lost cause. I would then suggest putting the car out of it's misery, local yard has a sign up $275+ for junkers.

Re: 383 chuging
I did the research and built the motor in my garage, I'm a carb guy so I'm not quit educated on the tuning.4 bolt caps, le3 heads. 58 mm tb, 1.6 rollers, pace setter long tubes, all msd ignition, -5 cc pistons, 12:1 compression, egr delete, 36 lb injecters, have walbro 255 fuel pump but havnt installed it yet.
