383 with cc503

im building a 383 10.9 compression ratio with all my mods in my mod list, and ported heads with 2.00 -1.56 valves, and 3500 stall, looking for high 11s on motor, is this a good goal for it or am i seting my expectations to high?

Give it time and you'll get more responses, youve only had this thread up 3 hours. Its the weekend, not everyone is at home infront of their computer.

Anyways, I think high 11s are obtainable with that set up. You'll need some suspension work and some sticky tires to help cut some really good 60 foots. Weight reduction wouldnt hurt either. I've seen guys go 12.40s with less than 340rwhp with cars that can hook and you ought to make quite a bit more power than that.

Go bigger on the cam. I had that cam in my car on a bolt-on 350, it was great for that. You've got ported heads, and 383 cubes, they're gonna need some more air. I'd go cc306/gm847/XFI468 etc....

like he said, can be done with good suspension and sticky tires. and certainly go bigger than the 503. the 503 is a bit better than the hotcam for a 350, you have a 383 i would go at LEAST 847. but yea i feel that low 12's - high 11's would be a good goal to set.

You can go low 12's with just a cc503 in a stock shortblock 350 and stock heads (i did).... do the math.

I wouldn't start messing with suspension until it is confirmed you have traction issues. Since auto drivetrains can be loaded up before launch there's a better chance traction won't be as much of a problem.

I like the shorter duration of the 503 but I think you should look at cams with more lift...I have a small custom cam spec'd by Joe Overton ground by Erson it has similar duration ( a few more degrees on intake and exhaust) and a .568" lift...Still very drivable and runs the numbers in my sig and my suspension is far from optimized...The 503 is a great small cam, but you may want to keep looking if you want constent 11s...

Turned a 12.301 w/ a 1.84 60' time today with the XFI268 (07-468-8) on a set of BFG Drag Radials 335/40/17" and Bilstien matched road course suspension with nothing removed from the car, through the M6 with a smal oil spill @ the 50' mark where I had to let up a little and get back into it
