383 Build worth it?

Heyas all, I'm looking at doing a rebuild for my LT1, with a CC305 cam w/1.6 roller rockers, mildly ported stock heads, and shorty headers. There are 383 kits w/ silvolite pistons for $560 on e-bay. It seems like a good deal, is it worth it w/ the setup I'm planning? How much more HP over a non-stroked bottom-end rebuild? How much more machine work will I need to get it installed?

My other question is will ported heads, w/ or w/out a stroker bottom end, cause a fail of the sniffer test? I live in NY...

Thanks in advance for the input...

with the heads, cam, intake, compression, etc all the same, a 383 won't make more power (at least, nothing worth noting) than a 350.

The MAIN advantage to more cubes is the average power aka the power under the curve.

Other advantages are that it will allow a larger cam and heads for the same RPM range which WILL make more power.

General engine buildup should be discussed in a Generation Spacific Forum. Transfering to LT1 Tech, thanks.
