383 Build

I was thinking about making my LT1 a 383 and using the Lunati 383 kit- http://www.jegs.com/i/Lunati/638/EA040-383B/10002/-1, and the LT4 kit http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=222292 , but i dont know if that will work and what kind of block to get, or if i should just use my block now and have work done to it.

I would not get the lt4 kit, its way to much for its gains, be better off going with an advanced induction package for heads and cam, or a le package.

450 RWHP? You can get in the 400rwhp range NA but that will be hard to do without a power adder(nitrous, turbo or SC). Is this going to be a track only car? You can go a little more wild but if you want to drive this every day,450 RWHP is a little too much. Sometimes bigger isn't always better. You really need to think about what the overall use of the car will be, not a rwhp. HP numbers look nice but can the car perform?

Well now that you put it that way its not going to be such a track car but more of a daily driver but i dont drive it that much, so pretty much i want a reliable street car for under six grand, and later be able to add a pro charger or something

The procharger with the twin intercooler can handle around 9# of boost. If you did heads and went with some trick flows with the larger chamber size, you could add some more boost.
I think a pro charger @ 9#with some stock ported heads and blower grind cam would be more than enough to squash your brain to the back of your melon. This could all be possible and you could maybe hit your 450rwhp goal....

If you want reliable, you'll want a forged bottom end.....

Distributor list has some familar names and this stuff is the best value going.
I would second the forgwet the LT4 comment and suggest Advanced Induction as well, they are a Compstar distributor so it could be one stop shopping for you.

With an M6 I think 450rwhp is achievable in a street car if things are done well but it wont happen for $6000 that number needs to go up.

I ordered the rotating assembly from Callies directly. Forged components at a reasonable price and very quick delivery.

I sent my heads to AI. AI also sells top quality valvetrain components. Heads were shipped out 2nd week of March and arrived first week of May. Workmanship is excellent, customer service excellent, technical support excellent.

The $6K is about right for the motor itself, but be prepared to spend a few more grand for the related components if you don't have them already (headers, clutch, radiator, injectors, etc).

sounds like it will be hard to stay within budget with only 6k with a forged bottom. (all of the extras will add on top of the mix.)
