355 What am I looking at???

Ive decided hold off on the heads and cam. I am going to save up more money and get the 355 job. Ive looked at a few packages from various shops, but no real price. What am I looking at for a complete engine? Something ready to bolt on. I was looking around and it seems to be around 5k is that wrong? What other options do I have? I think a 383 will be to cost prohibited. I am looking to get something that will be able to take a s.c. or nitrous sometime down the line. Guys with 355, how much did you pay and where did you get it done?? Thanks!

Well, you've got alot of options for a 355. You could reuse your stock crank and rods with a new set of .030 over pistons and better rod bolts. You could upgrade to a Scat 9000 series crank with a 4340 rod and forged pistons. Or you could upgrade even further to a 4340 crank and rods and a good set of forged pistons. If you decide on a blower you're going to want to do the 4340 forged rotating assembly with a nice set of forged, low compression pistons. If you decide on nitrous, the scat 9000 should be adequate for a 200 shot. The stock crank may even work pretty well, alot of people run 150 shots on them all the time.

As far as going to a 383, the only cost difference between the 355 and the 383 assuming you use an aftermarket rotating assembly on both would be the additional cost to clearance the block which shouldn't be a lot.
