355 with high lift cam?

I am very interested in going with a 355 set up (honed along with prep and polish of my stock crank...everything else forged) Will I be alright retaining my XE 230/236 or would a smaller cam be advisable?

I am a daily driver to and from class and drive 200-300 miles each weekend. I decided against a 383 because of this...

I don't plan on lowering compression for a blower or a turbo any time soon...may possibly add a 150-175 shot after building the bottom end...

Any ideas? XE 230/236 too much cam for what I want?

I ran that cam on a stock bottom end for a long time daily driving it around 50 miles a day and loved it. I also ran a larger solid roller too. This time im going with a larger hyd cam

Edit: But there again I like big ruff cams, which you may not

Yeah I figured that the cam will be fine for daily driving on a stock bottom end, but how is it comparable if I decide to go with a forged 355 set up? Will I lose any drivability?

Thanks!

Really no difference. 5ci is minute and a forged rotating assembly or not has no impact on the cam and drivability. Maybe i missed your question? Only thing i can see is if your changing the pistons the c/r changing affecting drivability some but that's it.

With such a small disp. increase, what sort of hp/torque increases do you think I'd see with my XE 230/236 and the mods in my sig? (I hate doing this, but I really am curious...) Heads will be stock for awhile but will have them ported by Lloyd...again...

I guess I'm just used to seeing smaller cams in motors with increased cubes, but the 5ci increase probably isn't enough to worry about it...

I've got a 236/242 hyd cam in my 355 and it's has no drivability issues. I put around 100 miles a week on it.

It has a pretty rough idle, but I don't mind.
