355 heads/cam suggestions??
355 heads/cam suggestions??
Getting ready to build my 355, and I am undecided on the heads/cam setup. I have it down to either Lloyd Elliots Stage 3 heads/cam or the AI full raceport with custom cam (not sure from them or from Bret Bauer). The price difference is not a factor. I am wanting basically max performance for the setup. I wanna stay hydraulic roller so if I wanna drive it it won't be a pita. It will have all the bolt on's, ported intake to match heads, electric waterpump. And I'm still considering a stroker but didn't really wanna shell out the money for a head good enough to run the stroker the way it should. So if anybody has either of these packages or other's that I'm not aware of please enlighten me so I can make the best choice for my setup. It will be tuned thoroughly, and will be run on race gas alot of the time (mainly track car) will weigh in at about 3200-3400 with driver, and will remain t-56 for as long as possible (still debating the 350 turbo swap).
Re: 355 heads/cam suggestions??
I would think that the stock lt1 casting head would kinda choke up a 383/396 more than a 355, I guess the extra torque would be nice to have though. Still thinking on the stroker thing. I guess nobody on here has bought le or ai heads??
Re: 355 heads/cam suggestions??
I have an LE2 setup on the way for my stock cube bottom end.. but will be transplanting it to a 355 whenever my bottom end decides to give up... of course will probably need a fresh cam if my bottom end gives up, but such is the price of racing...
Re: 355 heads/cam suggestions??
I went Stroker myself. I bought a whole another block. Corvette 4 Bolt Main block, i got oliver billet mains and arp studs and bolts on the bottom end. Of course i'm having alot of money go into this project. Its still gon na be Hydrolic roller. But its gonna see alot of track time. Its all in what you want and how much your willing to spend.
Re: 355 heads/cam suggestions??
Well money isn't really the issue, although I don't wanna waste it really. I have seen alot of 355's lay down 420 at the wheels (usually only about 10-15less than 383's of the same nature) but the torque is a bit different. I have a brand new 355 rotating assembly, but debating on letting it go and going 383 or 396. I have my hands on a set of afr 190's maybe I will just get those and a custom cam.
