355 buildup with stock crank?

I was wondering how much power the stock crank could take? I'm building up a 355 and the most power it would see would be 600 to 650 on the bottle.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Well IMO I believe the stock crank is rated up to 500FWHP and the 2 bolt mains are 600FWHP. Dunno I had a 355 a few years ago and was putting down almost 350RWHP and spraying 150 on top of that and it held fine for 2 years as my daily driver. Of course I had forged pistons and rods. HTH

A few LT1s have gone 10s with completely stock bottom end. I also know a guy personally that went 125mph on a stock longblock with a vortech and longtubes before it blew up. His rod went through the block but his crank was intact.
I think you would be fine as long as you get it inspected and rebalanced by a machine shop.

Yea, I was going to put in forged rods and pistons, so that I wasnt worried about. I would get the whole rotating assymbly balanced before install. Was just wondering if anyone had personal experience or knew of someone. I was doing some looking and I will probably replace it all anyway. I found forged scat crank and rods and forged TRW pistons, allwith bearings and rings, for about 1500.

from what ive heard from knowledgable LT1 guys........the stock crank is good for about 480 rwhp.

im planning on doing the same thing.......keeping the stock crank/rods........just getting forged pistons.

the hypercraptic pistons seem to be our weak point.

What can the stock "pink" rods of 92-94 handle as oppossed to the powdered metal kind made after 95? Supposedly the later ones kind can hancle up to 450hp and that the forged pink rods aren't as strong?? I have a hard time believing this. Any ideas?
