Your on a budget right how does it run now or did you see the motor run? How about don't touch the bottom at all spend your money a LE head/cam deal, and be done? You don't need to touch the bottom end at all... Now I will tell you that FI will be plenty of cash and you want to do it right the first time (short block)..... This would get your head work out of the way which your going to want no matter what.... You could pick a decent turbo or super charger cam that would still produce decent power and most importantly you could keep it all! An 8.5-1 or 9-1 motor is kind of weak and thats what you need for FI...

I went with the scat 6.000 h-beam rods. I found them for a little under $300. I still run the stock crank due to my budget. All I need now is a new crank and some machine work for my 383 rebuild next year.

Let us know what your budget is. I had a $3,000 budget and I kept the rebuild under that. I am getting close to 400rwhp. It is do able if you shop around and get some good deals.

Well, the only reason i am doing a budget 355 is because i need a new engine. a bearing went out in my 350. so, might as well do a rebuild i think.

Since you are on a tight budget this might be your route to take. LE heads and cam will work on the stock bottom end very well. Since you are not planning a ton of spray you might be fine. There are several people who run stock bottom end with spray. Some make 600hp+.

Yea, my budget is about 3000 to 3500. 3500 would kind of be pushing it. thats why i want to use stock rods and crank.

There are plenty of good lt1 short block out there for 200 bucks if not put bearings in and save the bucks...

Is this for the bottom end only. If you have a $3,000 budget for the bottom end. You can easily do a 383. Even if you do a 355 you could still go forged rod/piston and reuse the stock crank. The crank will hold N2O shots. You should be able to do a forged rod and piston with machine cost for around $1,500. I would look into some scat products they are better than eagle and more affordable. Then when you get tax return go to LE for a head/cam combo, LE2 would be best. Get some gears and a stall and check out the vettes in your rear view mirror.

could you guys give me the part numbers to the exact parts ill need? i am having trouble finding them and i dont want to get the wrong piston and rod. i was looking at the le1 heads with the 232/240 cam.

also, i talked to a machine shop closer to where i live. they said they will resize the rods for 12.50 each, which comes out to 100 bucks and for the crank it will be 15 bucks. is that good? i forgot to ask how much to do the block.

Are you wanting P/N for rods and pistons or just rods. If you want rods and pistons the mahle # you have already will work.

http://www.adperformance.com/index.p...roducts_id=242

P/N for 6.000 rods is at the site above.

Why not go with LE2's. If you want to run N2O you will most likely have to upgrade the valves and springs in the LE1's. LE2's you will not have to do any upgrades, and Lloyd will work with you on the cam so it is the correct one for your application.

I honestly don't know a forged piston number for 355 with 5.7 rod. I have looked but I can't find one. I would call summit and maybe they can help you. I gave you the 6.000 rod number so at least you got that. Good choice with the LE2's, call him and he will hook you up with a cam for your set up. He might even have a part number for the piston. I can give you one for a non forged. It may not say it is compatible but it will work.
