.35 plug gap curred my stumble but why?

My plugs were gapped at .56-.58 and so I gapped at .35. Now there is not stumble. Why? Im thinking my coolent temp sender is bad and causing it to run rich and the plug couldn't fire at such a wide gap.
Am I right?

That's strange, normally I think they are set at .50

Did you buy new plugs? or did you just regap them?

Maybe a weak coil or old plug wires.
