11s would house the 315s, and even 335s

I have the 315/35/17 Nittos and they fit fine, no rubbing or anything. I also beleive that most people use the 275/40/17 tires for the front wheels which are 17x9.5.

as stated, the zr1's must be the big daddy 11" wide wheels. All others are just training wheels,

If you are referring to squeezing the 315/35/17 onto a 17 x 9 wheel, then I'd have to say yeah, they'll fit. They may look a little funny, but they fit. I know a guy local who has 315 BFGs on the back of his SS with stock wheels and he's happy.

your putting 315's on a 9.5" rim, haha. IF they fit, they are in no way recomended by any manufacturer that I can remember. Also, I bet they look pretty "ghetto", and it can't be to good for the tire like that. Oh well, to each his own, I try to use things the way they are designed to be used. Go look up 315's on tirerack, they prob recommend min wheel width 10.5...........

It was merely a question...315's would provide more rubber on the ground which would provide better traction...how is that not useful?

not designed for application to a 9.5" wheel, call the engineer's, I'm an EE not an ME, but I'd have to say with the way the tire will be shaped on the smaller wheel. May have more ruber on the ground, but the tire will be bubbling out on the sides, and it's not supposed to do that.

Question was, will it fit? Not whether or not the manufacturers "recommend" it...

I recall ppl that have done it, so I'd say they will fit. But like I said it's not recommended nor will it look like the tire belongs on the wheel,

I'm not too worried about the look of it, just the function. Plus I think it's a matter of taste whether or not it looks good...wide tires on the rear look dang good to me...but then that's just my opinion

I have used both 315s and 275s (BFG Drag Radials). 60fts were the same so I stayed with the 275s...with everything being equal might as well save some weight (wheels as well as tires, and maybe some $$$) Also puts a little less stress on the 7.5 10 bolt with less rotational weight on the axles...

Also, you should get 315/35/17 if you want the total wheel diameter to be almost the same as stock, therefore you will not have to recalibrate your speedo reading.

Also remember that low profile tires are NOT good for drag racing, they are better for handling. If you want traction, get some spare salad shooters and a set of ET streets, .
