30th z with LT4 ?s

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2445256991

The link above desribes the car. First of all I thought they only made 100 with the Lt4 and second I thought they were all hard top. I ask these questions because Im looking for another low mileage 30th car and Im gonna sell mine then store the new away for weekend use only. I use mine now as a daily driver.
What about this one. Not enough time left for asking questions so Im not gonna bid

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...444048186gonna bid but good deal right.

Cool

GM says they made Approx 100 cars. I would guess a few made for press pourposes etc. They were all hard top cars as GM said the t-top body couldn't handle the power with out lots of squeaks and rattles.

I wouldn't put much faith in what you find on E-bay. The other night I saw a (Original) LT4 Impalla SS??? Go figure.

Thats what I thought. So the SS is just a clone in other words. He has pics of the window sticker and the option pkg from SLP. How do you explain that one tho. Im gonna email him and ask him these ?s.

Is the second car I posted a good deal or what?

I already e-mailed. He confirms it is an "LT1".....

hi there,

if you read further down you will see a break down of the v.i.n. the eighth digit is the letter p, which stands for LT1. the description you are reading is a general one taken from a camaro website. thanx

It's not an LT4 SS, those are stock LT1 valve covers for one thing, not LT4 valve covers and I don't see any hint of a red intake in that pic. It's hard to tell from the pic if its a t-top or not but if it is a t-top then it's not an LT4 car, they were all hard tops. Also the guy says the car sold for $31k new which is about right for a 30th SS. The LT4 car was up around $40k new. Plus the SS package sticker says it added $5673.00, the LT4 package added roughly $17k to the price from what I've heard. He's not really saying it's an LT4 car, but he mentions them being produced in the same description which is a little deceiving. It looks like a very nice 30th SS, just not an LT4.

You guys think its a good deal for either of the cars. KBB says the SS is worth $11,200 and the regular 30th is worth $9,200. These are low milage cars that are in tip top shape.

Now I put my cars in the Z which has now 95K in good condition besides the seats can go for $7,200 and my Impala which is in tip top shape with new paint and interior and 111k is only worth $9,500. Is KBB a good source to judge the pricing of cars?

He'll be waiting a looooong time to get $25k out of it. It does look like a very nice, very low mileage, excellent condition 30th SS but I doubt it's worth any where near $20k in todays used car market. I've seen actuall LT4 SS cars sell for around that price. Hell, I just saw a 98 C5 targa top in very nice condition for sale here for $19,900, and that was from a dealer!

Yeah I hear Greg. See what he did was use NADA. If you do both KBB and NADA you get the same price of around $11 to 12K. He got a pricing quote under the SS an it was in the $20k range but you couldnt put any option or mileage because all those cars are the same. I did my Impala like that it gave me the same price as KBB and you cant put any mileage or options becaue NADA knows the cars are the same and they are collectable. Now if you put his car in the regular Camaro (which IT IS but with options) and get pricing you can put in options and mileage and that gives the same price as KBB. Hes smart in a way (or just didnt know how to look up the value of a car) if no one knows cars but like you said no one out there is gonna give him $25k if they know a little about cars. I told him to email me if he didnt sell and we could talk some and maybe I can set him straight because thats what Im look for.

He'll be wainting a long time for $25K. I bought my LT4 Firehawk a few months ago with only 6K miles for $24K.

He just doesnt know I guess. He thinks he has a real SS. Ive been emailing him trying to tell him the difference but he says the car is worth every penny. When have you seen anyone pay $31K for a car and then sell it six to seven years later for just $6k less. I want the car but hell be stuck with it. In

In the meantime Im gonna put my up sale so I dont loss out on a deal like the one on the bottom that I posted.

He does have a real SS, the SLP door sticker verifies that. He just doesn't have an LT4 SS. It looks like a nice car, but they definitely want too much money for it. If you have $20-$24K to spend, I'm sure you can find a real LT4 SS or Firehawk out there. I recently saw an LT4 Firehawk with 50K miles and mods go for around 15K (it did have all original parts so it could go back to stock).

Probably won't find an LT4 option in NADA cuz GM didn't make any LT4 'F' bodies. You could purchase a 'new' '68 427 Motion Camaro also. That doesn't mean it came from GM that way, does it? It's a 'specialty' vehicle. Probably why there are no specific LT4 'F' body parts purchaseable from GM as well.

Yeah, that ebay ad is a bit decieving.

The F-body LT4 cars had stock steel valve covers.

The 8th digit of the vin is also "P" on the LT4 cars. All of the SLP cars started out as Z28's, so the vin would remain the same.
