Leave the stock injectors. Change them when you get to the shop that's doing the tune. It will start and run rich with the 30 #/HR injectors.

The 30# injectors running on a 24# tune will flow 25% excess fuel. The PCM will try to pull fuel, to correct the excessively rich A/F ratio, but the long term fuel corrections can only pull 15%. The short terms will have difficulty pulling the rest. When you go WOT, the engine will run 25% rich, washing the lubrication off the cylinder walls, and diluting the oil.

i drove a car for months like that.. with the stock injectors it was really lean according to the plugs. if you can back off some fuel pressure that would help with the larger injectors.

Sure - but it isn't going to run very well on a stock tune. May have idle problems, surging at low RPM, etc. You don't want to run it hard on a stock tune. The MAF sensor picks up the air flow generated by the heads/cam swap. The PCM supplies the fuel based on the programmed injector size (24.9 #/HR if its a stock tune). Where you get into problems is lower RPM where the tune needs to be adjusted for the increased valve overlap. PE mode will need the target A/F ratio adjusted. Some other changes as well.

Have you considered getting a mail-order tune for the heads/cam/30# injectors, and then taking it to the shop for a touch-up on the mail-order tune?

Im not big on performance upgrades as i try to stay near stock. Truth be told that you will have no problems with the stock injectors staying on until you reach the shop and then you should change them out when you arrive and with the cam and heads and in some cases if thier so radical of a combination then the car will run so rough that you would not want to drive it a long distance that is if doesnt die all together. But i think with the le2 package the cam is still mild enough for you to be able to make it to the shop no problems. Also always have a back up find a friend with a trailer or someone that can tow it for you just in case you run into problems. I have the 61909 heads and edelbrock 2108 cam which is a hot cam but with my set up it would run with factory settings but greatly improved with the tune up. Im thinkin it will start and run for a while its never good to drive a long distance with an untuned car and it running rough though just causes problems.

I have a madz28 tune for full bolt ons and no cats but I don't know if that will matter with this new setup. But I'm not trying to drive around, just to the shop.

Well youll know where you stand when you first go to start it up. It might even take a couple of tries for it to start up. Good luck man
