30# injectors enough for this 383

I got a set of Accell 30# injectors for $130 shipped knowing I would eventually need to get them. Then read another post saying how the dyno shop thought his 30#ers were too small for his 383 head/cam.

Mine will be LE heads (2"/1.56"), LTs, Two cutouts, Stock fuel pump/regluator, 58mm TB, 233/239 cam.

What do you think, should I go bigger on the injectors, I was told that as long as the stock pump is working it doesnt need to be replaced.

When tuning my car it started out very lean accross all RPMs. Everytime we added fuel to enrich the AFR it made more power. It got to a point where the injector duty cycle was maxed (>85%) and increasing the fuel pressure to 46 PSI was not able to enrich the AFR any further. It was our inability to add anymore fuel at the torque peak which led us to think we did not have the capacity in the fuel system.

My fuel filter has been replaced regularly but my pump is the original OEM pump with 97,000 miles on it. The injectors are new 30 lb SVOs with about 1500 miles on them. I will likely replace the pump and injectors to insure that fuel is not an issue.

410 HP is like 450+ at the flywheel and that may be pushing the stock pump.

94Sleeper, you were who I was referencing. It seems like most all people running 383s usually have 30# injectors, thats why it seems so weird that they cannot provide enough fuel, hmm, any other opinions.

Re: 30# injectors enough for this 383

I am looking for fuel injectors for my 383 now and had been thinking that 30 lbs were the way to go but now....what do you recommend ? 36s?

Here is an admin question for you guys. Should I start my own thread on this with the specifics of my motor, or since this is the same topic, should I just piggy back in here? I don't want to hijack this thread but don't want to clutter up the board with repetitive posts either...I'm still a little green with message boards...

I would ask the person tuning the car if the 30s will work. That is who should be able to tell you. I got SVO 30lb for my 383 because I had MadZ28 due the tune and he said to stay with SVO injectors, and they don't make a 36 anymore, and they jump from 30 to 42. He said it would be fine with 30s, but I can't tell you how it runs yet because the motors not running yet due to other problems.

30#'s are fine as long as the rest of your fuel system is healthy. And NO the factory rated fuel pump will NOT due.
