3" Ypipe or 2.5" true duals?
3" Ypipe or 2.5" true duals?
So I have these true duals sitting on my floor waiting for install..... and I cant help but think about Texas emissions and how these a-holes will give me crap about where the cats went and how they dont exit the rear of the vehicle. Do you think I can get a little bottom end power and torque by keeping the y pipe design and going with a 3" hooker aerochamber exhaust or should I say screw it and keep the 2.5" true duals? Car is a bolt on car with ported heads, 1.7 roller rockers on a stock cam, pace setter long tubes, cai, bbk tb, 3.73 gears, and suspension stuff.
Re: 3" Ypipe or 2.5" true duals?
I put dual 3" cats in the y-pipe so it's pretty close to legal. I used one of the Pypes 3" cats on the driver's side and a Catco 3" cat clamped right to the header on the passenger side. True duals dumping under the car will be extremely obnoxious.
Re: 3" Ypipe or 2.5" true duals?
do the y pipe. you wont lose much hp/tq at all. there was a post on here a while ago, and if your concerned about the flow, you really arent losing much @ all. possibly none if your not making enough hp to i guess "over flow?" your exhaust. performance wise you wont notice a difference really, if they will hastle you and not pass it, then i would definately say just do what makes them happy.

MeanGreen97Z - Worst case scenario... sacrifice a little power and pass or make the power but fail and have no power since you can't legally drive it.
Seems pretty simple to me.
