Go with the 4.10's, I don't think you'd be disappointed. Finally get some use outta 6th around town.

well ill tell you go with 4.10s, 3.73s are good but 4.10s are the best. ive got 4.10s and just a week ago i took a trip 660 miles and some of it was city driving, and i ended up with 27 miles to the gallon. not to shabby if i say so my self. just take my word for it 4.10s are great. i cross the 1/4 mile mark at 5800 rpms in 4th. so theres still room for speed up top in 4th gear.

note if yoyr going to spray go 3.73s.

I had 3.42`s, changed to 4.10`s, then got a 9 inch with 3.70`s. I really liked the 4.10s best.
To me, there was not much of a SOTP difference between the 3.42 and 3.70, but I never had the 3.42 to the track so I don`t know what kind of difference there was in that aspect.

from what ive heard is that you will have to it 5th in the 1/4. becaus eyour mph is going to be alot higher when your spraying. but thats easily cured with a little taller tire. (just what ive heard.)

and i get 27 mpg with 4.10s

I'm satisfied with 3.73s for the following reasons.

-I currently shift at 6200 and go through the traps at ~ 5600. versus 5k with the 3.42s and 6100 with the 4.10s (I estimated the other two). So there is a little room for wieght reduction or some added power without using 5th gear in the 1/4, yet close to optimal.

-With my exhaust system it only takes a couple hundered rpms for it to "come alive" and get considerably louder. Cruising on the highway they keep my rpms just below the rpms where my cam really starts to thump.

-1st and sometimes 2nd gear are traction limited as it is, 4.10s would only make hooking more challenging.

-The gas milage arguement is kind of flimsy, 6th gear is still very reasonable with 4.10s. If your going fast in 6th its not the rpms that will kill you. Your car is going to suck gas no matter what because the air resistance is not directly proportional to speed.

-Like you, i got them at the 'right price'. The guy who i bought the 10 bolt said he regretted not staying with the 3.73s in his 12 bolt. Someone talked him into 4.10s.

If i could go out and buy any ratio, i would get 3.90s, 4.10s is just a lil too much for my setup IMO.

3.73s are noticeable, but haven't tried 4.10s

more wheelspin for sure. need better than normal tires

3.73s are good for stock LT1 but after cam/heads, or on an LS1, 4.10s would be better for higher torque peak

gas mileage hardly dropped at all going 3.42 to 3.73
