i'm thinking about changing my gears, but will it hurt my top speed though?? can i still make 140-150 MPH in over drive?? thanks for the info

 

OH COME ON!!!! You'll lose a little, but who drives top speed at 150mph?? You don't go up that high often enough unless you live on the salt flats. 1st, you probably won't be driving like that anymore if a cop sees you. Or if you blow a tire. 2nd, with a better gear ratio you will get up to speed so much quicker. It's all about tradeoffs. I'd much rather drop a couple 10th's off my Quarter than worry about loosing 10mph of top speed I never see.

actually your motor may not have the power to be able to pull up to redline in OD anyway. It is possible to gain top spead by putting in bigger gears.

A stock A4 with .696 OD and 3:73s running on 25.875 inch tall tires will be at 166MPH when you hit the 5805 redline.
Not that you would want it just chilling at reline like that....

hmmm, i know the mileage will drop like crazy, but i'm interested in swaping to 3.73, since it took me ages to catch up with an integra from 95 MPH
