2nd time broken down. Car will not start even w/ spark

Whats up guys,

Well, heres what happened. I'll start off by saying my car runs quite rich and i need to get retuned. I was on the highway, messin around with a friends s2000. we both ran a bit, but i never redlines, nor went full throttle. needless to say, i still spanked him. once i hit 4th gear, engine shutoff. There was NO multiple popping.

So, i called matt at hsw and asked for his opinion. I took a plug off #1 cylinder and held it up to the block and my buddy tried crankin it over. It sparked. This means the opti is ok. Matt told me to change out the plugs. So, i put brand new tr55's in there gapped correctly.

STILL NO STARTUP.

It makes a few 'pops' and then doesnt start up. The serp belt turns over. Im thinking fuel delivery is the problem?

Any ideas???????????

Thanks in advance ... Joe

Yeah, I would check for fuel and go from there. It could be your pump or even something as simple as a fuse.

Perhaps the fuel pump wen't bye bye. Do you hear it prime when the key is in the on position?

Put a fuel pressure gauge on it, only way of knowing if you are having fuel issues.

UPDATE:

I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the shrader valve, and turned the key to accessory. It read perfecly at 42 psi. Is there anything else that could be the culprit besides the pump????

thanks

Yea, the fuel filter! I thought my pump was dying cause my car was barley running. Turned out the filter was almost clogged solid lol. I didn't even suspect it cause it was maybe 9 months old. I guess I shouldn't have ran to less than a gallon of gas, but there were no stations in sight! Oh well.

Also make sure it maintains pressure under load, that's where it is going to be more likely to fail. Still, that's an odd problem to say the least.

Check the pressure while cranking, to see if it dies off.

Spark is only good if its at the right time to the right cylinder Perhaps your opti screwed up internally?
When you crank it how does it sounds? Does it sound like any cylinders are firing and it wont start or does it sounds like its just spinning completly on the starter with nada to any cylinders?
