Talking 25 MPG Highway ...

So I just got back from a trip to my parents cabin.

Traffic was crazy because of it being the 4th of July weekend and all. But MOST of the time I had the cruise set at 75-76 mph. But there was a few times on some of the single lan highways where I floored it to pass idiots going well below the speedlimit and ****.

So basically, I wasnt taking it easy on the car, and had the cruise set at a higher then ideal speed.

I still got 25 MPG out of it though, which was awesome.

I love 6 speeds.

Ya im jeolous, but i still manage 18 on the highway...and thats on a rich open loop tune. But that is being very easy on the car.

^ Its cool, I dont feel like your one-upping me.

I also did about a 20 miles worth of city driving on that tank, going from my house to and from the interstate, and passing through oil city and stuff. Lots of hills too. I guess I should have posted that.

Basically, all mountains, floored it a few times, was cruising at a higher than ideal (For MPG) speed, and did a little bit (Say 20 miles worth) of city driving on that tank. I got 25 MPG.

I think if it was strictly highway, and in a leveler place than from Pittsburgh to Northern PA, I would have done quite a bit better as well.

with 3.73's and a blower I've pulled off 26MPG going through the 8% grades between Vegas and LA. Granted I was doing 1800RPM 90% of the way but like you, I was beyond stoked.

Hit a high of 28 on one tankfull on a 900+ mile trip where I averaged
27.4 for the whole trip. All expressway at about 10 over the limit.
Mostly level, a few small hills but nothing like the Pitts.
That was before the Ewp also.

I CAN get 25 mpg if I short shift it and baby the car around town. Normal driving is like 18mpg.

Wow, how many miles do you get to a tank with in town traffic? I cant get more than 140 miles per tank with this damn head/cam car. I think I need a leaner tune from Madz28 though.

Re: 25 MPG Highway ...

Funny thing, I got better gas mileage with my 3.73 swap. With the AC blasting and going 75 mph, I would get 24 mpg, but with my 3.23s, I would only get about 23.

I've kissed low 29s but 30 has always eluded me. Mixed town/highway I average 19.
