230/242 problems???

I believe there may be something not quite right with my setup and am looking for opinions. Here are the mods to my '94 Z - A4:

Mildly ported heads (no flow numbers), 2.0 and 1.56 valves, 230 / 242 113lsa cam, 355cid, PI VIG 3500, LT's - !CAT - Borla, Program by PCMFORLESS, along with other bolt-ons.

Anyway.... went to a dyno on Sat and here are the results.

321 RWHP
289 RWTQ
My AFR was around 13.5 to 14 between 5500 and 6000 rpms, where the cam started to drop off in power. Further, no knock was recorded on this run.

This was a Dynojet w/ SAE correction factor (if it makes any differance. Temps were in the upper 80's and humidity was also high.

I am pretty sure there is something going on here. I expected more out of this setup than that. The only thing I can think of is maybe I have my valves set too tight (went 3/4 turn past 0 lash). Any opinions on what else to look for?? Thanks

As long as your car is not idling rough or trying to die at idle the valves are probably not too tight. Don't be disappointed until you run it at the track though. My only concern is the amount of additional exhaust duration your cam has. You are going to give away a lot of torque in a N/A motor with LT's with that much additional exhaust duration on spray it will be OK JMO.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have any idle problems and I understand what you are saying about the large exhaust duration hindering TQ. My dyno shows my TQ line is just about stright, even after a shift from 2nd to 3rd. I went to the track and only managed to get a 13.1 @ 105 outta this pig. Heck I did better last year w/ my H/C and stock heads. The only other thing that was brought up to me was the fact that I put a 3500 converter in it and that ate alot of my hp numbers.

I understand this is a good cam for nitrous and that is what I had planned for this year, I just thought my N/A numbers would be better than this. ......... Still looking for answers.
