230/236 cam high map numbers?
230/236 cam high map numbers?
ok, heres the ordeal.
rebuild lower stock internals, p/p heads, ported intake, headers ect ran out of cash putting it together so i used a set of stock rockers(maybe from another motor, can't remember) with stock lifters, hardened pushrods and figured i'd swap the rockers out later.
anyway, barely drove it trashed 3 rockers, finally bought some pro mags tried to install them and found out i had trashed a lifter.
so i replaced it all, tore off the intake installed the summit lifters (soaked for a week) installed a new set off hardened pushrods, gmpp guideplates, 3/8 studs, 1.6 pro mags set the lash at 1/8 turn past zero lash. started it up and the idle is all over the place. 2-3k and it drops down to 500 sometimes. drove it some, it runs great but the idle is all over the place. computer is reading high map values.
so i'm wondering, i've got a stock tb on it, do i need to crack the throttle blades open more to get more air for the bigger cam? or do i just have another issue all together?

Re: 230/236 cam high map numbers?
ok, found out the air bleed hole was already opened, that may have been part of the issue, i filled and redrilled it and the idle has settled down. but i still read a high map and when it hits closed loop it reads lean and kicks back to open loop..
whats going on??

Re: 230/236 cam high map numbers?
ok, before i knew i trashed a lifter i put the rockers on and started the motor. at that time map numbers were around 35-40. now i changed the lifters and reset the lash at 1/2 turn past zero and map number are 85-90, i just don't get it...what could i be missing?
