224/230 xe cam stock heads
224/230 xe cam stock heads
What should i run with a 224/230 on stock heads. This will be after full boltons longtubes true duals intake gears electric wp and drag radials. This will also be on a 114 lsa because of nj emissions. Do you think i should go bigger. Heads will not be done for a long time and i will do a much bigger cam for that but for now this is a daily driver.
Ok, this is just from what I've seen so far, but here goes.
If you're going to be doing a bigger cam when you do eventually port out your heads, then why not going with a cam that's better suited to the stock heads for the time being?? Here is a post with a 224/230 car on stock heads, tuned. And here is a post with a 218/224 XE car on stock heads. And here is a dyno of a 230/236 on stock heads. The 218/224 is much better suited to the flow characteristics of the stock LT1 heads than the 224/230 or 230/236 is, and makes the power lower in the band too. Do a search, there's a couple of crane grinds that do pretty well too. Bigger isn't always better.
