Re: 224/230 feeling

Should notice a significant gain with that cam, but the tune could be where the power is hiding. But it isn't so radical that it should feel the same either, even with a stock tune.

Get rid of those 2.73 highway gears and give the car some gear.

Do that and let the engine breath with some high-flowing heads. I'm running the XE 224/230, 112 lsa, and with 4.10s and decent heads, it hauls *** for me!!

Re: 224/230 feeling

LOL the same thing here. After my rebuild, cam swap, headers, true duals, p&p heads, and 4.10s i honestly didnt notice alot of differance. And i did all that at once i do have a tune. But i do have a new fuel pump on the way and i hope that it will wake the car up, as i think the old one is crapping out.

BTW im also running the stock stall so that could be holding me back.

Re: 224/230 feeling

ran the gm847 with stock stall and 3.23 gears. Car felt slower with that cam than with the cc304. I had a bad miss at 5krpm, and other issues though, so basically i would bogg off the line and miss when the cam would start waking up.

I recently put in a 224/230, mid length headers, madz28 tune, and 2800 stall.
I have the stock 3.23 gears my car came with.

This cam seems to like to rev. It wakes up around 4K rpms, and thats where the difference is over stock. If you arent taking it up to 6200 rpms where it peaks out, then you won't notice much of a difference i am assuming. Even with my 2800 stall, it seems like it lacks much of a difference downlow and even mid range...but over 4K it kicks in(i don't have sticky tires, so i just spin out downlow..and its hard to tell what i actually gained with the converter). The cam needs some gears. I am probably going to go with 4.10's in my auto..see if it likes that. . For track, it would probably be best to go with 3.73's.

Re: 224/230 feeling

As said before, bottom end is similiar to stock, but once it gets up in the revs it should really start putting you back in the seat compared to stock. Get a tune.

Re: 224/230 feeling

I have a 6 speed, but I'll toss in my observations from having this cam. The 224/230 will feel VERY tame and "Toyota Corolla-like" around town. Driving below 2500 RPM it feels like you've barely got anything more than a nice rumble in the exhaust. But once you hit powerband... heheheheheheh

Currently trapping 112 mph... gotta get that 60' below 2 seconds and then we'll have some fun...

Re: 224/230 feeling

where would u guys say the car starts to "wake up". Do u really need to rev it to 4000 before it kicks in? I allways heard that this cam had a nice fat powerband and would start to pull in the 3000s.

Also what do u guys have ur rev limiters set at?
