2000 Trans Am

Hey, my buddy just got a 00 TA and is challenging me to a race come spring. He thinks there is no way i could beat him. No way no how. I know he's wrong!!!! I need to know what they run stock(m6) and what is the cheepest way to go about .5 faster. I plan on getting LT, ported heads, 230/236 cam, 3.73, 3000 stall TC, and 1.6RR. BUT, i need to know the cheepest way to get there(which first). I'd like to hold off on the TC until about next summer or so. Cam first, then heads.....I'm not worried about PEAK HP, just need to beat him to shut him up. Could the cam w/stock heads(unported w/RRs and springs) get me there? I'm getting the LT soon.....then what?

Nitrous is easiest.

The TC would be the next easiest plan. I cut 9/10ths off with my 2800 Vig

Ok, stock for stock you're a goner. No questions asked, you're gonna lose if he's an excellent driver.

To Hang, you're gonna need about 50 RWHP give or take a few. So, Nitrous is a good start, or if you want to go N/A, FULL exhaust, CAI, shoulw put you close.

9/10ths holey crap that's awesome.

I agree if you want to lose about .5 in the 1/4 and stay N/A a TC is gonna be your best, probably cheapest bet. I found a used Vig. 3000rpm stall for $500 almost brand new. If you don't care about N/A then a good 100-125 shot of NO2 is gonna give you the win light. Add your CAI and a nice flowing Catback and you'll be doing that much better. I see used nitrous kits for sale on here all the time for $500 or less complete.

Edit: I forgot to add, if you plan on doing all the mods you listed before you race, your gonna rip him a new A-hole. Provided he doesn't do anything before then. Keep in mind a simple NO2 kit for his car could have him in the 11's if he can drive it.
