2 Release bearings in 10K miles?

Hey guys:

I have a 95 M6 making moderate power. 14k kilometers ago, the throw out bearing broke. The tranny shop said that I had to replace it, the slave and since I'm here and the car has 89k Kils anyways, the clutch. Last week I started the car and heard a nasty metal/metal sound that went away when I release the clutch but comes back when I press down. I drove the 2 klm's home and the sound was louder the last 3/4 shifts. I called around and every one I speak to says....throw out bearing.

The car is now un-drivable and at another tranny shop.

What gives?

95 M6, 17's, lowered, Borla etc.

Generation specific maintenance issues should be posted on the appropriate "tech" forum... in this case LT1 Tech.

Are you one of those people that sit at a light with the car in gear and the clutch in?That will kill it pretty fast.

Not quite. That's just normal use. It may shorten the life of the clutch by a fraction, but it should wear down the disk before it wears out the throw-out bearing. My stock clutch had 130,000+ on it, with it's fair share of beating. When I felt lazy, or was going to have to sit for a while, I would sit in neutral. However, 95% of the time, I sat with it gear holding the clutch. My clutch disk was worn, but I never had any trouble out of the throw-out bearing.

I would say you ran across a pressure plate with a below par bearing in it, or the clutch was not installed properly.
