1st gear block

I have a 97 with the 2.73 rear and a 2,d,od setup.. So I adjust that so I know have 1,2,d,od... Why do people do it... I though you should just leave it in d and slam the gas at the strip....

Putting it in first won’t do anything for you at the track. At full throttle, it will shift at about the same point no matter what.

You only need to put it in 1st if you want to keep the car from shifting out of 1st during part throttle. Like if you are towing something (heaven forbid), launching from a slow roll, climbing a hill, or trying to save your brakes. Regardless, a properly working A4 will put you in the right gear by itself (Most of the time).

It comes in handy if you just want to go out and have fun too.
