Just as a FYI -- I've been informed that the new transmission mount has not been upgraded to 1LE, it's the same as it ever was -- the 1LE mount was just dropped.

I opted to go with an LS1 mount instead. It's a slightly harder durometer, and it has a built-in torque limiter (it interlocks) so it won't tear (even if it does, it's movement is limited). I haven't got it installed yet, but have heard several people running them on some *very* fast cars without a problem. I was running the ES tranny mount, but I don't like the extra noise.

Hmm... have not heard it that way about the new part number. The old 1LE was said to have the interlock design. I guess it is going to take someone with a new mount cut apart to prove what is up.

The LS1 style has different part numbers for A4 and M6, whether it makes a difference for use on an LT1, I don't know.

Sorry to be bringing up an old thread, but I don't visit this board very often anymore.

Anyway, I got my infomation about the stock/1LE mount from Jason Cromer -- he said that he had ordered a 1LE mount after hearing about the possibility of the 1LE parts being discontinued, and when it came in, it had the same part number as the old standard mount.

The 1LE mount (from what I've seen) doesn't interlock. It's the same design as the stock mount, it just uses a harder durometer rubber to make it stiffer and less prone to breakage. I know of a couple of people who had the same end result (transmission banging the tunnel) after breaking a 1LE mount.

And it's not just the 1LE mounts either -- it looks like all the 1LE part numbers now cross-reference to the standard parts (upper and lower front control arms, panhard bar, rear LCA's).

The only mounts that interlock that I've been able to find is the poly and LS1. The poly uses an internal interlock that is encased within the poly, where the LS1 has an external interlock. I have no idea what the differences are between the auto and manual LS1 mounts, and I don't recall which one I ordered. But be aware that if you do order the LS1 mount, you will need to either order the deformed-thread lock nut at the same time, or find one locally. I ordered the nut with mine, but had to buy it in a pack of 5 (I think it was like $3 or so).

What is a "deformed thread" nut which was mentioned in the post above? I have recently put on an LS1 tranny mount and need a nut for the mount. Guess I'll have to call my local dealership if I can't use one from a hardware store or something.

It is referred to as a "prevailing torque" nut. It means it has an interference fit, so that it wont vibrate off. Same thing that is used for the stock rocker arm nuts. It looks like it is squished on the end.

There have been other posts about the p/n for the LS1 mount, but it should be GM PART # 22174970 and the nut GM PART # 10406946 .

Thanks for the info shoebox (should have known you would come through ). It's off to my delaership to get one so I can button up all the "loose ends" on the car since the weather is so nice and I have to get my exhaust completed after my LT install.

Thanks again for the info.
