1LE option

Just got my 1LE shocks and springs in today. They look almost identical to the old shocks and spings. Does this sound right, or did I just get screwed and buy factory shocks and spings?

Re: 1LE option

The decarbons should be a bit thicker if they are the 1le versions. Hold them up to your stock shocks to compare sizes and verify.

As for the springs, they shoudl look pretty identical.

Ok, thanks. I haven't done a direct comparison, but they just looked too similar.

Exclamation Re: 1LE option

Can anyone confirm that the rear 1LE springs look exactly like the stock 1993 Z28 114lb/in rear springs? I compared them side by side and they look and feel exactly the same. And no, I dont have the 1LE code in my glovebox.

Where did you purchase the stuff? I had in the back of my mind that the 1LE shocks were yellow Koni's and very expensive. (might be wrong)

I'm assuming he got the 1LE deCarbons, not the Konis. I also bought the decarbons.

Re: 1LE option

The 1LE springs should have 1 less coil than the stock ones. If "they look identical" they you got scammed.

I picked up a 1LE spring set recently and the rear springs were the only "real" 1LE units. The fronts are simply stock... what a rip.

Are these the guys you got the springs/shocks from? They seemed like a really really good deal and I was about to buy a set myself. Then my opti blew =/

Re: 1LE option

http://tech.firebirdv6.com/1le.html
From the site above they posted the PN's as:
1LE Front Spring (GM p/n 22132887, 360lb/in, 63 N/mm) on 94 and up Fbodies.
1LE Rear Spring (GM p/n 22132889, 130-170 lbs/in, 23 to 30 N/mm)

From the gyrehead webpage they posted the front spring P/N as:
22077196
and the rear as
22132889

Here is a quote from a post on LS1 tech's page:
GM no longer stocks 1LE springs. If you order the 1LE part number, they substitute the base spring.
I can find very little info on what the mysterious p/n 22077196 front springs are. Best as I can tell they are the WS6 and probably the Z28 stock front springs. (Didnt see that P/N on shoe's P/N page).

Re: 1LE option

1LE front spring = 360lb spring
360lb spring = part # 22077196
therefore, 1LE front spring = part # 22077196
. I dont see what all the confusion is about.

Re: 1LE option

1LE isn't that much better I don't see why people buy that stuff. buy a good peice of hardware, cause basically your buying stock parts. If your shocks are blown then yea buy them but don't take off perfectly good shocks and put 1Le shocks on, from what i hear about them they feel almost no different other than a mental difference.
