1997 SS Question

I apologize in advance if this thread is in the wrong section. Anyway, I just registered and wanted to get your opinions on a friend's 1997 Camaro SS for sale. It's a 97 SS, red, t-top, 50k miles, 400 miles on $14,000 engine, forged crank/blower pistons, head work, procharger (14psi), MSD timing **** in car, headers, I could go on for days. Also $4,000 into the 4L60e to make it hold. Stock rear end, also has a factory cd changer (12 disc I think???) leather, A/C, entire car in mint condition and it is all smog legal and actually passes the sniffer test. It hasn't been dyno tuned but runs extremely well! Sound like a good deal for $10,000??? Thanks in advance boys!

Sounds like a good deal to me. If you're in a state that requires CARB numbers to prove legality, make sure you get them or else the car won't be smog legal.

Stock rear? That is just begging for trouble with that setup. Sounds like a good deal, but you better replace that rear if want to plant it.

Re: 1997 SS Question

Yes, everything has it's c.a.r.b. numbers....And the stock rear will eventually have to go. Any suggestions, best deals? Also, I know it would be hard to break that stock rear with the 17" yokohamas on it, but do you think it would tolerate a set of drag radials? (It's right around 700hp) Thanks guys your help is greatly appreciated....keep it coming!

Re: 1997 SS Question

I think w/ the yokos you'd be likely to kill yourself and I think with the drag radials on 17s would be almost as worthless as the yokos. You'd need atleast M/T DRs or ET Streets to hook that kind of power to the ground.

Also if that thing is truly near 700hp...your going to blow that 4l60 sky high even if it is built. I wouldn't expect a 4l60 to hold much over 500hp and be reliable.
