1996 Z28 Cruise Release/Clutch Switch/Cruise Release/Brake Switch and Harness

I'm reassembling a 1996 Z-28 6-speed that has been apart for several years. All of the wiring harnesses were out of the car, and now I'm reconnecting everything. I'm having trouble reconnecting the cruise control release switches on the clutch pedal and the brake pedal. They both have the same two-pin connector, but I can't find any pigtails on the wiring harness that fit them.

I found this cruise control wiring diagram at shbox.com. It makes me think that I am missing a small wiring harness that connects these two switches to the main part of the harness that comes through the firewall on the driver's side. It looks like there should be a connector with two or three pins called C250 that the clutch pedal/brake pedal switch harness should connect to, but I can't find it (or the harness). There should be a DK BLU wire coming from the instrument cluster (through connector C200D/C200A), a BRN wire coming from the Cruise Control Module (through the P100 firewall connector), and a larger PNK wire coming from the Cruise Control Module (also through the P100 firewall connector) that all connect to C250. However, I can't find this C250 connector anywhere.

Can anyone confirm if I am missing this clutch/switch harness that connects to connector C250? It would be great if you could post some photos of what the wiring looks like, specifically with a picture of the mysterious C250 connector.

Thank you in advance for your help,
Jay

Have you downloaded a (free) copy of the 1996 factory service manual, courtesy of member GaryDoug? The 1996 wiring diagram will be there, and the following pages will identify each component on the diagram, and where it is located. It will also list the pages that show the physical routing of the harness bundles and the connectors. Can be difficult to navigate, but it’s all there.

And, might have mentioned this earlier, there are very few people left on this site, maybe a half-dozen LT1 enthusiasts who show up once in a while.

Re: 1996 Z28 Cruise Release/Clutch Switch/Cruise Release/Brake Switch and Harness

Thank you for the suggestion. I downloaded the 1996 Service Manual, but it doesn't include wiring schematics. I have a hard copy of the 1995 Service Manual, and it is the same. I did find diagrams that show the mechanical installation of the switches in question, but there is no detail on the wiring harnesses.

There is a folder for wiring diagrams at the link you provided, but it only has diagrams for 1999-2002. If anyone can point me to a wiring diagram for 1996, I would be very grateful.

Re: 1996 Z28 Cruise Release/Clutch Switch/Cruise Release/Brake Switch and Harness

I'm sorry. I spoke too soon. I did find some information about C250 in Chapter 8 of the 1996 Service Manual, along with the Cruise Control schematic I posted in my question. I think this confirms that there is a Clutch Jumper Harness that I am missing.C250 (2 cavities)........................ Forward Lamp Harn to Clutch Jumper Harn near brake/clutch pedal bracket

Now I need to find one of these harnesses and the connector to plug it into.
