Question 1996 Lt1 wont start

Trying to troubleshoot my 1996 Z28. When I turn on the ignition I hear a click, but nothing that sounds like a fuel pump. The car has been sitting for a while, and I have not driven an Lt1 in sometime either. When I turn the ignition off, I think I am hearing the air pump for a second. The car will crank, but not fire. Just trying to figure out if it is an ignition or fuel pump issue. Mostly stock SS with a 6spd. Thank you.

The usual answer: check the fuel pressure.

^^^^ yep check the pressure but also a couple other things you can do. Check the pcm ign fuse and the pcm batt fuse. You can also use a jumper wire and use the fuel pump prime connector to see it pump turns on that way.

If you think its fuel slap a gage on it.

If you dont have a gage pull the IAC and give it a snort of either/brake clean whatevaer is flamable while some one spins it over. If it fires then you deff. have a fuel issue.

Thumbs up Re: 1996 Lt1 wont start

Thanks guys. I know to throw a gauge on is the best thing to do. I didn't have one available and the car is out of state. I just had a short time to look at it today. I will have to try and trouble shoot it more next time I am in town. I was hoping for a quick and easy check. Thanks for the info.
