1996 Camaro LT1 Tuning Software
Hey everybody. I'm new to the forum, but i've already done quite a bit of searching on the web and for info, here, on the forums here.
I have recently aquired a 1996 Camaro Z28 and am looking at getting into tuning on it a bit, mostly just basic things for now until I learn the software. I am wondering what all I need to get started (I just received my OBDII to USB cable today). I need something to log/monitor and to make basic changes.
Thanks

For OBD2 (like me) your only two choices for tuning are Jet DST and LT1 Edit. I have DST and have been using it for over 10 years with decent success. I am not sure LT1 Edit is still available. Either way you're looking at over $400.
As far as data logging, I use a combination of MXscan (no longer available) and a cheapo Foseal OBD2 adapter (ELM knock off) along with the phone app Torque Pro. The latter setup cost me about $20.

Re: 1996 Camaro LT1 Tuning Software
Do you know where I could possibly get a copy of MX scan?
Right now, I'm attempting to diagnose a fairly bad miss in the lower rpm range of 5th and 6th gear. When I got the car, there were 38 codes on it and I am down to 6 or 7 now, I'm down to replacing the downstream o2 sensor (which is rusted in there so badly I can't torch, soak, or any other attempts have proved usesless).
Also, the car smells like it is running very rich so I am thinking this o2 sensor may be the problem.
Anyways, I'm hoping mxscan may help me diagnose the problem before I go any further.
Thank you for your response.

The hand held Actron CP9185 Elite scanner is pretty cheap at Walmart ($65). It will read diagnostic codes as well as provide live real-time data, graphing (handy for evaluating O2 data). It will also log a session.
I have one which I use on our OBDII vehicles, but it also works on the 95Z (OBDI with 16 pin ALDL connector). It works real well and easy to use.
