I love how everyone says "stock" ls1's. How many do you see without a lid and catback?

meh, i consider Lid/Catback LS1s stock. And if the engine is built, yes it will tear them up. My car is strictly bolt on (not even a tune) and ive beaten lid/catback LS1s before.

Sorry if I was a little hard to understand in my 'how to check for forged' reply. I'll try to explain better:

A 'scratch test' means taking a piece of material of a known hardness, and trying to scratch another material with it. If you can make a mark, the second material is softer than the known one. If not, it's harder.

if you polish metal and etch it with an acid, a pattern develops. You can see the pattern with a microscope. Different metals have unique patterns, kind of like fingerprints.

So, if you could polish the crank, put some acid on the shiny spot, look closely at the spot, and compare the pattern to a photo of forged steel pattern (microstructure), then you could tell if it is forged.

Here is an example, not forged steel though.

Sooooo is he full of it... Or did they put beafed up motors in these Z28'S?????

I almost gaurentee it's a repaint as I've never seen one with paint like that.

GM never built an LT! with forged crank and pistons in an F body.

My car with a CAI, cat back, and mid length headers tears up stock LS1s
