1995 z28 pully removal

Hey guys, I am trying to remove my crank pulley so i can change my opti. I have a puller and have not been able to remove this pulley. I have used wd40 to loosen the pulley and nothing. Any advice or trick would be helpful. I have put so much force that the end of the point to the puller is now flat.

with the puller in place and loaded (i always used a puller against a socket on the bolt, instead of directly on the bolt.. have an assistant crank the engine over while hitting the spinning pulley with a deadblow hammer.

obviously pull the PCM IGN fuse so she doesn't start

that always got it for me, even on some really rusty ****ty old pulleys

failing that, get a stronger puller and use an impact on it.

You have to make sure that when the puller is trying to do work it is actually pressing on the crank and not balancer itself. If you search you will see many threads where people have a similar problem and may even end up breaking the puller or pulley. What people recommend is inserting a bolt into the hole in the pulley hub that bottoms out on the crank hub bolt. You then place the point of the puller on this bolt and pull off the pulley. Sorry I don't have a picture but if you search you should be able to find one.

Here is a link I found to Shbox's site (http://shbox.com/1/pull_pulley.jpg ) showing a good method to remove the balancer. As you can see, the puller is pulling on the balancer and not the hub which is attached to the crank. His website is very helpful, I suggest reading all you can on it and making a small donation if you feel inclined. I know he has helped a lot of people.

I used PB Blaster a few years back for a stubborn pulley, not sure how well WD Stacks up vs it. Make sure its attached perfectly, I recall having to use a lot of elbow grease to get it to first move.

Success, the pulley came of last night. What a pain. I will try the PB blaster next time. I always see it in HD but never have thought about buying it. Again thanks everyone for your advice.
