1995 LT1 proper cam pin length ????
Can anyone tell me the proper cam pin length for a 1995 LT1 ?
My 383 has the GMPP hotcam and has ruined the Opti bearing on my original opti as well as the bushing on my brand-new Accel opti (only got to put 3000 miles on it). Naturally this is not condusive for steady timing.
Does the cam pin length have anything to do with this ???
My mechanic (whom I definitely trust) that has installed both on my engine and he says he noticed no apparent problems installing them.

Yes, too long a dowel pin will damage the Opti.

Yes, it definitely could have been the culprit. I am sure many optis lived a short life before this problem was well known.
