Installing the 95 LT1 engine in a street rod with standard aluminum radiator ie only one hose at top and one at bottom.

Anyone have a diagram to show how I should route the cooling line? Do not intend on running the throttle body passage.

I have that diagram...it applies to a stock Z28 radiator..I need a drawing using a (2) hose radiator.

 

Are you asking how to run the steam tube from the back of the heads?

 

Are you running heater hoses?

I have a 1995 LT1 engine on an engine stand and a 37 Chevy with no engine. The LT1 has no hoses on it and the 37 Chevy has the standard 2 ports (inlet & outlet) aluminum radiator.

I can't use a cross flow radiator and want to use the top/bottom hose narrow radiator which will require me to install a "T" on one of the hoses??

Here is a diagram of my water pump...guess I just need to cap off the throttle body hose #6 since it won't be used.

Basically I just need to know where each hose goes..won't be running a heater core until later this year..so I'll just loop the heater hoses once I ID them.

The diagrams on my site show where all the hoses go and which way the coolant flows. Connect the steam pipe to a return hose going to the radiator (one with red arrows) using a tee.

 

Pump has to pull suction (blue arrows on the diagram) on the bottom radiator connection, and return (red arrows on the diagram) to the top connection. Other than that, Rob/Shoebox's diagrams show you what all the connections are for. The steam pipe from the back of the heads, was handled two different way (93/94 and 95-97). In 95-97, the line from the back of the heads was routed through the throttle body, then to the radiator. You bypass the TB connections by simply dumping the steam return into a return line as Rob notes.

Look at both the coolant hose diagram and the heater hose diagram to cover all the connections.

Just cap it off it's not used.
I have 4 & 6 capped.
1 & 3 for the heater
2 as the lower
5 as the upper with a tee for the steam line connection.
I just used a standard overflow tank.

If I have the heater disconnected can I call off 1 and 3?

 

The stock configuration flows coolant through the heater core all the time. Flow is limited by a restriction orifice. The intent of this flow is to prevent the high pressure and cavitation experienced with the t’stat closed, blocking all flow. The return flow from the heater impacts the t’stat. All this is documented in Society of Automotive Engineers paper #920673, “New Generation Small Block V8 Engine”. The subject is somewhat confused by the fact the SAE paper includes the features of the Corvette version of the LT1 cooling system, which is somewhat different than the F-Body version.

To play it safe, I would loop a hose from the heater supply on the pump to the heater return on the pump, and incorporate the flow restrictor (part #13 in the Shoebox diagrams).

 

#4 is for the oil cooler though?

I'm kind of in the same situation..
I ordered an all aluminum radiator to replace the old leaky one (crack in the plastic).

It doesn't have a fitting for TB heat (happy to delete that).. but it also doesn't have the fitting at the bottom, drivers side of the radiator :/

Could I T the steam pipe in to the oil cooler line, then T that in to the return line?
